TEMPLATES & CHECKLISTS
BOM Template
A bill of materials links your design to procurement and assembly. This template keeps part identification, quantities, reference designators and alternatives in a consistent structure.
What’s included
- Item number and reference designators.
- Quantity required per finished assembly.
- Component description and package.
- Manufacturer and full manufacturer part number.
- Approved alternate manufacturer and part number.
- Population status and product variant.
- Customer-supplied or manufacturer-purchased material.
- Lifecycle notes, sourcing restrictions and approval reference.
How to use it
The file opens in Excel, Google Sheets and other spreadsheet tools. Keep one approved part definition per line. The blank first data row is intentional; insert your own project data.
Keep your completed document with the relevant project revision. Record the owner and date of any approval, and make unresolved assumptions visible to everyone preparing the quote or build.
