DFM Checklist
Use this checklist before a manufacturing review. Record the design revision, the intended manufacturing partner and the evidence used to close each item.
What’s included
- All fabrication, assembly, placement and BOM files match the same revision.
- Footprints and polarity are unambiguous.
- Do-not-populate positions and variants are consistent across files.
- Placement origin, board side and units are defined.
- Panel handling and separation have been reviewed with the manufacturer.
- Special packages and hidden joints have an inspection strategy.
- Test and programming access support the intended coverage.
- Mechanical clearances and component heights are checked.
- Coating, bonding, cleaning and keep-outs are documented.
- Open findings have an owner, action and disposition.
How to use it
This is a review structure, not a universal set of process limits. Confirm dimensions, materials and tolerances with the manufacturer for your actual design and process.
Keep your completed document with the relevant project revision. Record the owner and date of any approval, and make unresolved assumptions visible to everyone preparing the quote or build.
